Update On Pastor Bruce
Posted on 30. Sep, 2010 by RachelHi Everyone,
I wanted to give an update on my two sick guys...
I wasn't sure if Bruce would feel up to blogging, but I wanted to let you know you how they are doing
As unbelievable as it was, both Bruce and Eric were both in an ER room...about 80 miles apart at exactly the same time! Bruce up here in Summit County and Eric was taken to St Anthony Central in Denver. As Bryan and I talked they were even taken back for chest xrays at the exact same time! We were absolutely in shock.
Our older son Bryan recognized the symptoms of cholangitis (infection in the main bile duct) in Eric. Eric thought he had a bad case of the flu with fever, chills, loss of appetite.
Fortunately Bryan told Eric that he was driving him to the doctor...from there they were told to go to ER.and then to the hospital where he hooked up to IV antibiotics.
Once the bile ducts "back up", they get infected and cause problems that can be relieved through stents. The doctor put another stent in Eric's bile duct late this afternoon. This is the 5th time that Eric has had this procedure. He is feeling better and his temperature is almost normal (much better than the 102 when he first went in).
He will have to stay in the hospital for a couple of days. Thank you for your continued prayers for him..we are so sad that he is suffering with this disease. We are trusting in our Lord to help relieve him or cure him.
Bruce is doing better today..he also is hooked up to IV antibiotics. Bacteria keeps growing in him and easily goes into sepsis.
He is definitely suffering with all the symptoms of end stage liver disease..the ascites
( water retention in his stomach and ankles especially) is getting worse and causing hernias. His jaundice seems to go up and down.
He will be there (on 2nd floor) probably for a couple more days.
We appreciate
They told us this would be the "norm" until he has a transplant.
We are "frequent flyers" to the hospital but the only place we get to go with all of our miles is the 2nd floor!
We so appreciate everyone's prayers and concerns..we really depend upon them.
People have asked how I am doing..I take 1 hour at a time..His grace is sufficient for me and us. I sometimes have my "teary" moments...this is very BIG and sometimes it seems Bruce and I can't bear much more. And then the Lord makes Himself BIGGER than the situation as only He can do.
We are so grateful for all the kindnesses to us and the continued prayers.
But would you pray with us that a transplant for Bruce would take place soon ( I am ready to move from the 2nd floor to the next level) and for Eric that this stent would do the trick for him for a long long time?
We love you and appreciate you,
Donna

Posted on 29. Sep, 2010 by RachelHappy Wednesday to you all - Last night in ladies Bible study (Becky - that's why I'm not home on Tuesday nights! sorry....just a little communication would go a long way huh?) It's the Beth Moore 'The Patriarchs' and I'm loving it! Anyway, we heard about pastor Bruce, and now his 30 year old son Eric. What a blessed season of prayer down on our knees as a corporate group of women. Thank You Lord for listening, and caring for our pastor and family more than we ever could. WE TRUST YOU!
Bruce had been released from the hospital Monday night with a heavy dose of antibiotics. Tonight Donna took Bruce to the emergency room once again suffering with a fever and chills. It is not yet known but chances are that the blood infection is back. Donna will keep us posted. In the meantime, they are asking for prayer and, assuming the hospital keeps him overnight (and perhaps longer), they will notify us when the doctors begin allowing visitors. ALSO -- Their son, Eric, is in the emergency room in Denver with a blocked bile duct. It is expected that a stint will be inserted into the duct immediately. Please pray that this procedure will be effective and relieve his symptoms. Pray for Donna because she cannot be in two places at once; but praise the Lord, their other son, Brian, is with Eric at the hospital in Denver
Sick Boy
Posted on 26. Sep, 2010 by RachelWell, Jacob caught the bug that was going around, and boy was Friday a rough night for all three of us! He was up vomiting 7 different times! Trying to convince him that it was going to be o.k. was a bit of a challenge - he was so scared of this new thing his body was doing to him!! Yesterday he seemed to be better and ate small amounts at breakfast and lunch, so we decided to go ahead and take him to Papa and Nana's house for dinner with family. Let's just say we are so thankful that his high chair tray has a nice big lip around it to catch liquid. Poor boy. Saturday night was fine, but we decided best not to spread the love at church this morning so Marand stayed home with the lethargic little fellow. No "loosing his lunch" since, and he seems more himself tonight. Thank you Lord for bodies that heal, bland foods, and immune systems that are fully functional!
We did muster up enough strength to head outside for a nature walk to fill our "special treasures God made" box that I found at the thrift store.
Jacob's favorite was the seed pod that you could shake out the seeds like a pepper shaker :)
I don't feel good :(
(just a side note - that is yogurt on his shirt...not the alternative :)
But shaking out seeds onto my hand
distracts me pretty well :)
