Hi Everyone,
I wanted to give an update on my two sick guys...
I wasn't sure if Bruce would feel up to blogging, but I wanted to let you know you how they are doing
As unbelievable as it was, both Bruce and Eric were both in an ER room...about 80 miles apart at exactly the same time! Bruce up here in Summit County and Eric was taken to St Anthony Central in Denver. As Bryan and I talked they were even taken back for chest xrays at the exact same time! We were absolutely in shock.
Our older son Bryan recognized the symptoms of cholangitis (infection in the main bile duct) in Eric. Eric thought he had a bad case of the flu with fever, chills, loss of appetite.
Fortunately Bryan told Eric that he was driving him to the doctor...from there they were told to go to ER.and then to the hospital where he hooked up to IV antibiotics.
Once the bile ducts "back up", they get infected and cause problems that can be relieved through stents. The doctor put another stent in Eric's bile duct late this afternoon. This is the 5th time that Eric has had this procedure. He is feeling better and his temperature is almost normal (much better than the 102 when he first went in).
He will have to stay in the hospital for a couple of days. Thank you for your continued prayers for him..we are so sad that he is suffering with this disease. We are trusting in our Lord to help relieve him or cure him.
Bruce is doing better today..he also is hooked up to IV antibiotics. Bacteria keeps growing in him and easily goes into sepsis.
He is definitely suffering with all the symptoms of end stage liver disease..the ascites
( water retention in his stomach and ankles especially) is getting worse and causing hernias. His jaundice seems to go up and down.
He will be there (on 2nd floor) probably for a couple more days.
We appreciate
They told us this would be the "norm" until he has a transplant.
We are "frequent flyers" to the hospital but the only place we get to go with all of our miles is the 2nd floor!
We so appreciate everyone's prayers and concerns..we really depend upon them.
People have asked how I am doing..I take 1 hour at a time..His grace is sufficient for me and us. I sometimes have my "teary" moments...this is very BIG and sometimes it seems Bruce and I can't bear much more. And then the Lord makes Himself BIGGER than the situation as only He can do.
We are so grateful for all the kindnesses to us and the continued prayers.
But would you pray with us that a transplant for Bruce would take place soon ( I am ready to move from the 2nd floor to the next level) and for Eric that this stent would do the trick for him for a long long time?
We love you and appreciate you,
Donna
