To Kansas We Go

(Feb 2)

We are taking off tomorrow to head to Marand's old stomping grounds. Thanks for praying for us. I picked up Shaun in Grand Junction this afternoon, Tina is driving from North Dakota, Joe is driving from TX.....so all four of the siblings will be together. That doesn't happen often enough, it will be good. Aunt Vicki is super (as usual) and will stay with Monica. Jacob is finishing up getting his LAST TOP TWO molars so hopefully they won't be a bother while we are traveling. Did I mention Hooray for all his baby teeth being in?

I had to share a few painting pictures with you as well as a story....

At the dinner table on Monday Jacob finished quite a ways before all the rest of us, and while waiting to be excused, he was entertaining himself....out of the blue, he holds both hands up, palms out, and says "ready?" when he finally got all of our attention, he says "ready" and very slowley and deliberatly moves both of his extended pointer fingers so that they meet in the middle. Just as they touched we got an exuberant boy noise like a "bang - pow" and and explosion of fingers. It was so funny. After a second of pause, the entire table was laughing out loud...and of course Jacob was doing it over and over again. He had to show dad first that when dad put his fingers together it did it too...then Mama....Seriously, what a boy! Where do they come up with this stuff?

We are painting the office. Marand did a super good wood-working job on the wanes coat and so Monday after the Jacob entertainment, we headed up to paint. Monica (who doesn't mind playing with Jacob if it gets her out of painting :) had homework to complete...so Jacob got to come with Dad, Aunt Vicki and I. I set him up with some paint clothes, a pail and a "brush" and this is what we got...

and this...

He actually had a super time, and did such a good job for such a long time while the three of us were productive, until......

Aunt Vicki decided to open her mouth and verbalize what we were all thinking. Not a smart thing, Aunt Vicky ;) for only milliseconds after the words "man, Jacob is doing so good...." came out of her mouth we got this....

OOPS! Aunt Vicki knows better...and will keep her thoughts to herself in the future ;)

Love to you all. KS here we come....

Can I hire Jacob to help me

Can I hire Jacob to help me paint? He looks like newbie painters I have seen in the past. I pray that you will be blessed during this time of grief and have a safe trip to Kansas and back.

Also this is a true house painting story, I painted a firends exterior siding gray and trim white. One day while he was home "watching" his 2 1/2 year old son Josh. He asked me to come inside and look at rooms that needed to be painted. So I set my paint can with white paint and my paint brush down and went with inside with him. about 15 minutes later he said "Where's Josh"? We went back out side and found Josh had picked up my brush and paint bucket, proceeded to paint white stripes on the gray siding and brushed half of his body with paint including half of his face. Mothers, the moral of the story is check up on your husbands when baby sitting and when they say they are keeping a close eye on the children, ask them to go and see what they are up to.

YES, YES I am SOOOOO Sorry to

YES, YES I am SOOOOO Sorry to open my mouth.  My lips are sealed from now on.  It was really fun though. ;)  The best was after Jacob put his foot/body in the paint he was saying "yucky, dirty".  He is his father's son.

Sending my love and prayers.
